NSPCC working with the health sector
As healthcare professionals we play a key role in child protection; health professionals are often key in identifying children who are in need of safeguarding and supporting families at risk.
In addition to direct sexual exploitation and abuse social media and the internet pose massive problems in tackling the issue as it allows would-be groomers access to a wide cohort of children and young people. Children, young people and their families are not always alive to the potentially dangerous nature of the web.
The NSPCC has launched new on line guidance on harmful sexual behaviour that will help health professionals to identify risk. The online guidance is targeted to support front line health teams.
