Getting around – information on access

How accessible are our health services?

Over the last few years, Rotherham CCG has worked with Rotherham Council, and a user led organisation to check the accessibility of a range of local venues; the list was agreed by local people with a range of access needs.

AccessAble, originally called DisabledGo, was set up in 2000 by Dr. Gregory Burke, as a result of his own experiences as a wheelchair user and disabled walker.  It aims to give people the detailed information they need to work out if a place is going to be accessible. The detailed guides contain facts, figures and photographs, collected by trained surveyors.

The site also contains some of the main routes through towns, transport hub information, and details of leisure facilities.
