Mental Health Awareness Week sees the Launch of Online Platform for Rotherham People

Mental Health Awareness Week sees the Launch of Online Platform for Rotherham People
18 May 2020

ADULTS in Rotherham are set to get access to quick and easy help and advice on a range of mental health and wellbeing issues all in one place as a new online platform is launched on Monday 18th May for Mental Health Awareness Week (18th - 24th May).

The online platform, RotherHive (rotherhive.co.uk/), has been developed by the NHS Rotherham CCG to provide a range of verified practical tips and advice as well as local, national and online services, organisations and groups that adults in Rotherham can access for expert advice to help look after their mental health and well-being.

Following several initiatives, conversations in the community and feedback, it became clear to the CCG that adults in Rotherham needed a reliable online platform where they could go to get trusted and verified information.

Over 90% of adults with internet access use search engines to find information, therefore, the majority of people use online sources in some way to help them make decisions. RotherHive makes this easier for adults in Rotherham to get instant access to the information they need at a time to suit them.

Dr Richard Cullen, local GP and Chair of NHS Rotherham CCG, said: “It is fantastic that we are providing local people with fast, and easy access to really important mental health and wellbeing information all in one place. With the Mental Health Awareness Week theme being ‘kindness’ this year, RotherHive provides people with a steps of how they can help themselves, a friend or a family member who may be in need of help.

“In Rotherham, we are leading the way in providing digital solutions to help people access help, advice and health services and manage their own health and wellbeing. RotherHive is a welcome addition to the Rotherham Health App, which is already providing patients a way to manage their health and access the help they need.

“Support to deal with life’s challenges is vital in providing the basis for good mental health and wellbeing. Dealing with a variety of everyday life challenges successfully can make real difference to someone’s life.”

The wide range of information available to local people on RotherHive includes these areas:

  • Alcohol
  • Bereavement
  • Carers
  • Deafness
  • Gambling
  • Dementia
  • Domestic abuse
  • Drugs
  • Homeless
  • Mental health

RotherHive has been reviewed by a wide range of people in the community and a team of specialists to gather feedback, support the development and future development plans.
