CCG 655 Please would you let us know what services you commission for pre-school children who stammer?

Request

Please would you let us know what services you commission for:

a) pre-school children who stammer

b) primary school-age children who stammer

c) secondary school-age children who stammer

d) adults who stammer.

Response

Children All the paediatric stammers would be referred to SLT and can be referred by parents, the older child or any professional and would be triaged straight away to a specialist dysfluency/stammering therapist.

Adult   We have an open referral system, including the dysfluency part of our service.  Referrals are preliminary triaged to a specialist SLT in dysfluency. Where the dysfluency is secondary to another condition, e.g. a moderate or severe learning disability or a significant mental health condition, we would refer the patient onto the appropriate service.
