I am contacting you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on behalf of myself. I would like to know: 

Request - What are the number and cost of abortions commissioned by the CCG or (all the) CCGs for which you are FOI officer, and undertaken in the private/independent sector in the last five years, broken down by year and type of procedure. 

What are the number and cost of abortions commissioned by the CCG or (all the) CCGs for which you are FOI officer, and undertaken in NHS services in the last five years, broken down by year and type of procedure. 

Response - Unfortunately Rotherham CCG are only able to go back to 2011 (4 years) as we did not contract formally in 2010/11 as it was just done on an ad-hoc request basis so we do not hold the records as it was prior to CCG formation.  

We are unable to split the cost of treatment further than a total as there are different prices for different types of treatment dependent on number of weeks gestation and we do not hold that information, it would need to be sought from BPAS directly.  For clarity, BPAS is contracted to allow Rotherham patients to have choice of where they attend for termination, the main centre used is based in Doncaster but they may use any BPAS centre in the UK for which RCCG would pay, just the same as if they were using NHS services across the country
